Term: SDTV

Standard-definition digital TV, defined as a 480i signal (480 interlaced scan lines) presented 30 times per second. This is the standard of resolution for all conventional DVDs. Many DVD players may be set to output “progressive scan” 480p signals, which remove the scanning lines producing a smoother film-like picture.
