Term: dts (Digital Theater Sound)


A rival digital soundtrack format to Dolby Digital that is an option on some DVDs. Also used in many movie theaters. It is not a required standard for DVD soundtracks but may be included at the option of the producer. Virtually all DVD players and A/V receivers will decode dts or Dolby Digital soundtracks.
